The aim of the G.I.I.F.S. is to acquire greater knowledge of Eurasia and Africa’s wildlife and habitats in order to :
decide on appropriate conservation measures,
organise rational use, which namely includes maintaining cynegetic activities within the different cultures and traditions,
provide Consultancy to all the regional, national and international authorities concerned.
In order to achieve these goals, the G.I.I.F.S. is creating an international databank through a network of countries, interested administrators, hunters associations and associations for the conservation of the entire area in question.
To do this, in collaboration with other organisations, the G.I.I.F.S. is active in :
developing studies of Eurasia and Africa?s wildlife species and studies of their living conditions in the different countries where they are present,
making public the state of the populations of these species and helping willing countries to manage them rationally,
extending and federating the work undertaken on the pigeon family,
getting regional, national and international authorities, especially European Economic Community authorities to take into account all or part of the results of this work and these recommendations.
To achieve these targets, the G.I.I.F.S. may especially :
carry out or sponsor any scientific studies whose aim is to increase our knowledge of these wildlife species and habitats,
draw up all the documents and with the approval of it Board of Directors circulate any publications relating to this work,
heighten public awareness of the problems of conservation of species by organising awareness events and operations.
develop through training courses the knowledge of wildlife and habitat management.
